STEPAN.APP is a move-to-earn protocol built on the BASE network. Users earn $STEPAN tokens by walking in real life — tracked via their phone's GPS and accelerometer sensors.
There are three ways to earn: step rewards (base rate per 1,000 steps), checkpoint collection (geo-tagged drops across cities worldwide), and daily quests (mission-based bonuses).

Architecture
STEPAN.APP runs on three layers:

Verification backend — validates movement data, verifies checkpoint proximity server-side, and manages anti-cheat logic.

Get from zero to earning in under 5 minutes.

Download the app — available on iOS and Android. Search for "STEPAN.APP" or scan the QR code on the main site.

Connect your wallet — use any BASE-compatible wallet: MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, or WalletConnect. This is where your $STEPAN will be sent.

Grant permissions — allow location access (for checkpoints) and motion/fitness data (for step tracking). The app works in the background.

Start walking — the app begins counting steps immediately. Check the map for nearby Checkpoints to collect bonus tokens.

Claim rewards — earnings accumulate in-app and are sent to your wallet at the end of each day, or instantly when you collect a Checkpoint.

Tip: Keep the app updated. Step counting uses your phone's native Health/Fitness API — you don't need the screen on. Checkpoint collection requires the app to be open and GPS active.

Earning $STEPAN
There are three earning streams. They stack — you earn from all three simultaneously.
Step Rewards
The base rate is 10 $STEPAN per 1,000 steps. Step data is verified using your phone's accelerometer cross-referenced against GPS movement to prevent manipulation.

Daily Cap
Step rewards are capped at 200 $STEPAN per day (equivalent to 20,000 steps). Checkpoint and quest rewards are additional to this cap and are not limited.

Reward Distribution
All rewards are distributed from the Rewards Pool (40B $STEPAN = 40% of total supply). The remaining 60% (60B) is allocated to DEX liquidity. Rewards are sent on-chain to your connected BASE wallet. Gas fees on BASE are typically under $0.01.
Core Features
Checkpoints
Checkpoints are geo-tagged locations visible on the in-app map. Walk to their physical location and tap Collect to earn tokens instantly. They are available worldwide from launch — any city, any country.
Proximity requirement: You must be within 50 metres of the checkpoint's coordinates. GPS is verified server-side — client-reported positions are not trusted alone.

One collection per refresh: Each checkpoint can be collected once per refresh cycle. You can return after it resets.

No reservation: Checkpoints are first-come, first-served. Multiple users can collect the same checkpoint — there's no exclusive claim.

Instant delivery: Tokens from Checkpoints are sent to your wallet on-chain at the moment of collection, not batched at end of day.

GPS spoofing is detected. Attempting to spoof your location to collect checkpoints without physically being there will result in a permanent wallet ban and forfeiture of all earned tokens. See Anti-Cheat for details.

How Staking Works

Stake — open the app, go to Stake, choose a tier, and confirm the transaction with your wallet. Gas on BASE is ~$0.01.

Earn daily — APY accrues every day and is automatically compounded into your stake position.

Unstake — Flexible tier can be unstaked at any time. Locked tiers release automatically after the lock period expires.

Token
Smart Contract
The $STEPAN contract is deployed on the BASE network (Ethereum L2). It is a standard ERC-20 token extended with reward distribution and staking logic.

ERC-20 compliant — compatible with all BASE wallets, DEXes, and tooling.

Reward distributor — the contract mints from the Rewards Pool allocation on verified step and checkpoint events. Minting is rate-limited per wallet per day.
DAO module — token holders with 90-day locked stakes gain governance voting rights. Proposals and votes are recorded on-chain.

Non-upgradeable core — the core token logic cannot be changed after deploy. Only DAO-approved parameters (like APY targets) are adjustable.

Safety
Anti-Cheat System
STEPAN.APP uses a multi-layer verification system to ensure all rewards represent genuine physical movement. Cheating is taken seriously — confirmed violators are permanently banned.
Detection Methods

Accelerometer cross-check: Steps must match device motion sensor patterns. GPS drift alone doesn't count as steps.

Speed limiting: Movement above 8 km/h is excluded from step counts automatically. Driving, cycling, and running at high speed are filtered out.

GPS spoofing detection: Known mock location apps and developer tools that manipulate GPS output are detected at runtime.
→
Server-side checkpoint validation: Location is independently verified server-side using trusted positioning APIs, not just client-reported coordinates.

Behavioural analysis: Unusual patterns — e.g. collecting checkpoints faster than physically possible, or identical step counts every day — are flagged for review.

Device fingerprinting: Multiple accounts on the same device are detected and limited to prevent Sybil farming.
Penalties

Confirmed cheaters receive a permanent wallet ban. All earned tokens are forfeited and returned to the Rewards Pool. There is no appeal process for confirmed violations. Play fair.

Security
Your tokens and private keys are always under your control. STEPAN.APP is non-custodial — we never hold your funds.
What We Don't Store

Private keys — your wallet's private key never leaves your device. We cannot access, freeze, or transfer your tokens.

Continuous location — GPS data is sent to our servers only at checkpoint collection moments. We do not store a history of your movements.

Identifiable personal data — we only associate your wallet address with your in-app activity. No name, email, or phone number is required.

STEPAN.APP will never ask for your seed phrase. Anyone who does is a scammer.

Do I need to buy $STEPAN to start?↓
No. You earn $STEPAN by walking — no upfront purchase is required. You only need a BASE-compatible wallet (MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, WalletConnect) to receive your earnings.
Which devices are supported?↓
STEPAN.APP is available on iOS and Android. Any smartphone with GPS and an accelerometer (virtually all devices made after 2016) is supported.
Does the app need to be open while I walk?↓
No. Step rewards use your phone's native Health/Fitness step-counting API and work in the background. However, to collect Checkpoints you need the app open and GPS active.
How often are tokens sent to my wallet?↓
Checkpoint rewards are instant — sent on-chain the moment you collect. Step and quest rewards are batched and sent at the end of each UTC day to save on gas fees.
Can I use any wallet on BASE?↓
Yes — any ERC-20 compatible wallet that supports the BASE network will work. MetaMask and Coinbase Wallet have native BASE support. Just make sure to add the BASE network and have a small amount of ETH on BASE for gas (typically under $0.05 total).
What is the BASE network?↓
BASE is an Ethereum Layer 2 network built by Coinbase. It offers very low gas fees (often less than $0.01 per transaction) and fast block times — ideal for micro-reward systems like STEPAN.APP.
Can I lose my $STEPAN tokens?↓
Once tokens are in your wallet, only you control them via your private key. Token market value can go up or down — we make no guarantees on price. Never share your seed phrase with anyone.
Are there any geographic restrictions?↓
Checkpoints are available worldwide from launch — there are no geo-restrictions on earning. However, you are responsible for ensuring that participating in crypto token activities is legal in your jurisdiction.
